My wife had her oath ceremony a few days ago and hasn't signed her Certificate of Naturalization yet. I read a post by someone in another forum who said they were told that the name had to be written "exactly" as it is written on the photo attached to the certificate, if it had been printed then it must be printed on the certificate as well and any other way would invalidate the certificate. We were not told this at the ceremony and I find it hard to believe since they gave us such detailed instructions and I doubt they would leave out such an important detail. Besides, my wife wasn't given a choice as to how she wrote her name on the photo. She asked if she could sign in cursive and was specifically told to print it. I'm thinking she can sign the certificate in cursive but don't want to mess anything up on a technicality. Any thoughts?

If anyone else has had experience with the picture being signed one way and the certificate signature another, I would love to hear if it worked out okay for you (particularly when applying for a passport).
UPDATE: I just want to update this since I have seen so many different answers to this question here and elsewhere. My wife had no problem getting her passport with the certificate signed in cursive and her name printed on the photos so apparently the only real requirement is that the certificate be signed with the person's full name as kkboy advised me. I Hope this helps others who may run into the same situation in the future.Last edited by Zahgon; 09-08-2007, 10:21 AM.
