Name change during citizenship application

Folks,

Both my wife and I are ready to file the citizenship application after securing the Green Card 5 years ago. However, for citizenship wondering how we can address name changes in two situations.

1. In my situation, a typo in my last name from my Indian passport got carried to the Green Card. How do I fix this for the Citizenship application? The correct last name needs to just include an additional alphabet.

2. In my wife's situation, the last name reflected on GC was her maiden last name (got carried from her passport to the GC). In this case, how should she get my last name on her US passport.

How do you suggest we address these changes? Anyone who has gone thru this / heard of this situations before?

You just request the new name in the naturalization application.

However, it will delay your naturalization process 6 months or more. It is not instant process as it may sound.
