Hi,
I am getting marriage in August 2007 and I want to take my fiance's last name when we get married.
I am a permanent resident and I am now eligible to apply for citizenship. I don't feel any hurry to apply now, so I am wondering if it would be best to change my name through the citizenship application, or should I just apply for a replacement green card for my new name?
I know that applying to a replacement green card is costly, so it might be an advantage to change my name through naturalization (since it is included in the price). However, if it takes 6 months before I can do my name change and oath, does that mean I can't use my new name until then?
In both options, when should I change my name on my ss card, driver's lisence, credit cards, etc?
Thanks
