  • Sending the N-400 application again

    Hi,

I have applied for citizenship on July 14th by priority mail with delivery confirmation. So far it has not reached
the destination. Also the check has not been encashed.
I should have sent it by express mail.

My question is Can I send another application before July 30th?. Effective July 30th (postmarked on or after 30th) will have to accompany new fee.

Since not sure if the first application reaches, planning to send another application. Is it a good idea or not?

    Thanks

How did you determine it has not yet reached there? If this is based on the delivery confirmation that is not correct. I suggest you track it on-line. I would be very surprised if it did not yet reach. USCIS is behind in sending NOA. Moreover, post of mailing is important, not what date it reaches there.

      Sending the N-400 application again

Well, Priority mail with Delivery Confirmation can only be tracked 'accepted' at the location where I mailed and 'delivered'. Can not track thru mailstream. But it is possibel with certified mail or express mail etc..

So far it says only 'accepted', not delivered. Called USPS. they said wait until 14 postal business days, then they will start looking into it.

Usually priority mail reachse 5 to 7 days. If USPS says it is lost or something, I need to reapply. If I do reply on or after july 30th, I have to send new fee amount.

That is the reason I am planning to reapply tomorrow (july 28th), that way it will have postmark date before july 30th. Even if it reaches later 30th, no problem. USCIS goes by postmark date.

Not sure what USCIS thinks if I send the application again and if they have already received my first one.

      Thanks for your reply.

You are right, priority mail by itself can not be tracked. I typically always add a "certified mail" when sending a priority mail to a government office and then I am able to track it-online.
