  • please help !!

    hi,

i think i incorrectly answered no to question 13 where it asks if you have ever called yourself nonresident on state return. i answered the question as no.
however, i just realized that during 1 year i was working in another state for sometime and living in a different state. i filed my return as resident in the state where i was living but filed as non-resident in the state where i was working. i think i should have answered "yes" to that question, isn't it ?

what should i do now? i have already sent my appplication. please help!!

    thx.

Don't worry, be happy, but keep documentation

Don't worry about it at the moment. If they look into this specifically then they'll ask you to provide information, which is highly unlikely.

However, do keep all your relevant original documentation on the subject matter ready with you and take it for the interview.

    Good luck.

How do I handle this at interview

      thanks a lot Knowledgeable.

one more question though. what original document should I keep ready? and should i tell the interviewing person upfront at the start of the interview or bring this up only if asked ?

i don't want this to be interpreted as me lying on the application. please help !!

i guess the reason it did not occur to me at the time of completing the applicaton is because the question falls under the "continuous resident" section and i thought that i always filed my taxes as a resident in the state I live so i answered no.

        IT Return

Keep your copies of your IT returns that you filed as out of state resident.

I'm pretty sure this will not come up as any problem as they consider the fact that you've paid your taxes and that's what is more important.

        Good luck.
