Not working and applying for citizenship

Hi,
I got my GC for myself and my spouse through my employer.
That is, I including my spouse name also while applying for GC.
I am not working for the past one year and not sure when I would work again (becox of family reasons) .My spouse is working.
Can I apply for citizenship for me and my spouse ? Will mine get rejected since I am not working.
What about if my spouse applies now and I apply later on my own.
Must a person be in employment while applying for citizenship?

You also can apply for citizenship while not working. I hope you stayed with the employer who sponsored your green card for reasonable amount of time before leaving the job.

YOU can't apply for your spouse. He/She has to apply separately.
Your working or not is not relevant but IO will need to be sure you are not going to be a government liability after getting citizenship and you are not receiving public funding for yourself/family. Sometimes morals becomes an issue if there is no known income - questions such as is the person enganging in criminal activities to support onself come up. If spouse is working and the other is doing home duties, that is perfectly acceptable, regardless of the gender of the stay at home parent.
