N-400 Question on Selective Service

Here's my question. I would really appreciate your responses.
I'll be applying for my citizenship very soon. The date of issue mentioned on my greencard is Jan 26th, 2003. But my 26th birthdate was on March 28th 2003. I guess I was supposed to register for Selective Service before my 26th birthday. But, I did not know about it then and so I did not register for selective service before my 26th birthday. As you can see, there was only a gap of 2 months (Jan 26 2003 - Mar 28 2003) between the day I got my green card (Jan 26 2003) and the day I was last eligible to register for selective service, which is my 26th birthday (Mar 28 2003). Would this be a problem when I apply for my citizenship? Please let me know what is my solution for this?
I know that I'm supposed to get the "Status Information Letter" from Selective Service and I'm in the process of getting it. I have another one year before I become eligible to apply for citizenship. Can I get the "Status Information Letter" from Selective Service now or should I wait until I get closer to my eligibility date for citizenship?
Also, I noticed that the application form for getting the "Status Information Letter" from Selective Service asks for reason for not registering with selective service before reaching age 26. Can anyone please let me know what reason I should be putting in the application form? The truth is I did not notice it until recently (which was much after my 26th birthday) and also I got the greencard just 2 months before my 26th birthday.
Is there anything else I need to do besides getting the "Status Information Letter" from Selective Service? Is there any other documentation that I need to take during the citizenship interview, apart from the "Status Information Letter", to prove my case?
Also, Can anyone please tell me what will be written in that "Status Information Letter" when I receive that letter from Selective Service?
