Citizenship?

In June 2010 my parents will be completing 5 years since they got Greencard. In the last 5 five years they have made a few trips to India lasting more than six months but less than a year.
Can they still apply for citizenship next year ?
What kind of documents can they furnish which will be acceptable to USCIS such that they can justify their stay in India for more than 6 months ?

Trips taken outside USA for more than 6 months will break the residency requirement for 5 year eligible rule for citizenship. person applying citizenship should not take trips abroad which last more than 6 months, if they do then the day he or she returns back to USA and wait for next 5 yrs. pleae contact a immigration Attorney for advice. also check the Citizenship requirements.
