I am an Israeli who recently got accepted to a PhD program at UCLA - fully funded. I'm also married to American citizen. I have begun the processes of obtaining permenant residency (probably too late) and I am waiting for an interview which will probably take place after school already starts (Sept 21). Fearing that I'll miss the begining of the school year I have begun the relitivly quick process of obtaining a F-1 visa but as I understand being in the green card process conflates with the sutdent visa. The Amreican consulate in Jerusalem in very unhelpful and won't give a date at all not to mention an early date. What should I do? Who should I turn to? I'm really afraid I'll miss my PhD offer.
