Is it recommended to reschedule Oath?

Dear All,

We have been scheduled for an OATH on 29th October in Sanjose. BUT there is a India Trip planned between 22nd and 10Nov for brother's marriage which is also falling on 29th oct ...

Can you all please suggest if it is recommended to reschedule Oath?
We cannot afford to delay Oath too long because K1 needs to be applied just after getting Oath.

PLEASE Suggest if next oath date from USCIS will be very late? or one should attend OAth and miss marriage. How soon one should expect reschedule? Can it be november?

We would deeply appreciate help. We have one-two days to decide, whether to cancel tickets OR send letter to reschedule !!!!!

Mudita,

I'd recommend that you take the oath on the scheduled day and skip the wedding. Otherwise your naturalization might be delayed considerably.

Mudita-
it really depends on how soon you want to be a citizen. You can re-schedule your oath and hope you will get another letter within a month or so. You can call uscis and ask when is the next oath. From there, you can then decide if that time frame will work for your filling of k1.

On your bros wedding, it will be good to give him the support. so depending on when the next oath is, you make the call. If it was not for your need to fill the k1 very soon, I would recommend you make a copy of the oath letter and send the original back with a request for a new date.

I agree with poisontee that your decision depends on if the delay in oath ceremony will have deleterious effect on your life.

If not go ahead with the plans to attend the wedding as that cannot be postponed.
