    hey guys..

is it true that at the interview they can ask us very detailed questions about our N-400 application? i mean will they ask us to tell them all our previous addresses?full dates (m/d/y) in and out of the states??
coz a frd of mine told me i have to know(memorize) all the dates of my whole addresses (from-to)..etc..
so if any1 had been in this kind of interview plz share...

I too was asked only about my current address. I dont believe you have memorize /verify all your addresses in the last 5 yrs ( which are the only ones pertinent to the application). Good luck

I think you should be ready to speak any level of details in the past 5 years as indicated in the N400. It all depends on the officer dealing with the case.

          adam2009 is right.

You should know and remember all the details of your N-400 application. And you are not allowed to look into your submitted N-400 application.

            * It is true that the officer can ask very detailed questions about the N-400 application.

            * They can ask questions about the previous addresses and the period you spent there. I don't think they would expect you to recite from memory each of the street addresses and period of stay. You should be able to refer to a list that you can carry.

            * The same way they can question the visits to make outside of USA. As above you need not recite from memory of the OUT and IN dates. You can carry and refer back to a copy of the list if needed.

What we need to understand is, there are things you are expected to know without referring to a document (Ex.your current address, your employer, name of your spouse...) AND items that do not belong to that category.

I agree Raju; however, the dd/mm/yyyy verification for addresses in the past is very unlikely in a N400 interview unless there are red flags. Same for travel times. We all know the city and state we lived in the past 5 yrs. That is a reasonable response for USCIS. After all they are not out to "catch you" in a lie about where you lived. It's an excercise to verify the data on your form.

It is true that asking for the city (ies) where you have lived before is a fair enough question and you are expected to know that without referring to any document.

But my response was specific to the concern about 'memorizing' the full address, date of stay and the travel 'in' and 'out' dates expressed by the original poster.
