Speeding up the process?

I have been to my fingerprint appointment in Durham NC, and I was wondering if there is any way to speed up the n-400 process. The only reason I ask is that I want to apply to the local police dept in the area and you have to be 100% naturalized to apply. I understand some people have done a same day oath in other locations, is that possible in Durham? Any ideas on how to speed it up?
