  • N-400 Pending after interview

Had N-400 interview today, waiting for over 2 hours for me to attend the interview. However, after answering 6 civic questions and my personal info, VO asked me to write down my first entry to US w F1 visa, school Mamés, major and study time.

Is is it a normal pending? Anyone had similar pending before?

I'm really not understanding your question.

It is normal for the interviewer to send you away with a "request for evidence" if they do not have all the paperwork that they think they need.

But I'm really not understanding what is happening in your situation.

Did you get a "Request for Evidence" form? If so .. can you tell us PRECISELY what it says and what they are asking for? Better still.. can you scan it and upload it as an image?

Look at my recent post on things to expect in the interview

Does you version of that form have the checkbox ticked next to form N-14?

VO couldn’t decide if they can approve or not. Because I came to US with student visa then a couple of years after I changed my status via 526 and 485. I guess the case pending because CIS wanted to check my school? So frustrating.

I'm not familiar with the specific rules that may be causing the USCIS to have a potential concern in your case.

They like to dot every "I" and cross every "T" to make sure that all previous Visa and Green-Card decisions were 100% correct.

Unfortunately that takes time and adds more delays. It must feel very frustrating and you probably feel powerless to do anything about it.

All you can do is wait and assume that everything is in order and it will be approved eventually.

If, however, you do not have a decision after 120 days then (and only then) you will be able to file paperwork with the courts to force some motion on your case.

Let's hope you are approved way before then.

        Good Luck

It is not unusual for an N-400 interview to end with no decision. My interview didn’t have a decision.

Based on what you wrote, the IO has no grounds to deny your petition. I expect you will be a citizen before the end of 2019.
