  • 5 month to completion no news - normal?

    hi everyone,
I have not heard back from USCIS since the biometrics appt last March and the case status still says that it will be done by March 2020. It just feels like 5 months to get the civics test & appointment done feels short no? I'm having my first kid in late january and worried they might schedule an appt with little wiggle room right when i'm huge or recovering :/ Any insight / advice would be great thanks!

Unfortunately it's not possible to make definitive predictions of times and delays because each case is different.

However, if you read my main post (below) you'll get some insight into processing times based on each FIeld Office
Here is the graph showing data published by USCIS. Things changed significantly around the time of the 2016 Presidential Election. In my experience, 5 months is actually more than enough time to get the civics test, oath ceremony et al done. My completion date online was not until March 2020 and I got the letter for my civics test last month, had it done and my ceremony is actually on Tuesday.
My little sister was even faster... she had her civics test on Wednesday and was asked to come back on Friday for her ceremony. If your application docs were complete and concise, you shouldn't have any issues.

It would help if you two could tell us your Field Offices please.
The performance and backlog varies dramatically by Field Office as described in my main post I mentioned earlier in #2 of this thread.
Some offices can turn things around in 5 months... others can take 18 months to process an equivalent and "identical" case.

Hi everyone, Just wondering if any one has experienced this and can share their experience. I had my interview and at the interview "unable to make a decision due to the fact that I didn’t go with the divorce decree and child support order (but passed the civics and English test). My status on line changed two days after the interview to RFE mailed( I received that and replied with everything they asked for) it was delivered last week Wednesday the 16th of Oct but my status online hasn’t changed at all, it’s still showing RFE mailed. I’m just wondering why it hasn’t changed to RFE received or something? Do I need to call ? I called USPS they said it was definitely delivered. Chicago Field Office

          Thanks
