Why did he vote on green card?

I suggest that you consult an immigration attorney before applying for citizenship.

This is one of the main questions the immigration officer asks during an interview. It is a very serious issue... One can never Vote based on green card status...

        Few Questions:
        1)Did you ever vote?
2)Did you ever claim as a citizen?
        3) Have you paid taxes/ Do you owe any taxes?
        etc, etc..

You better see an attorney before proceeding further.

It all depends on what type of "voting"

Some local elections are open to everyone, check your with local voting officials on that. There must actually have been a prohibition against it for it to make a difference.

Also, there is an exception for people who mistakenly thought that they got citizenship when one of or both their parents naturalized. See the last (very long) sentence of Section 101(f) INA (Immigration and Nationality Act). This is the last sentence in the paragraph following subsection 101(f)(9) INA.

It was passed as part of the Child Citizanship Act of 2000 (CCA) and is retroactive to any application pending on or filed on or after 9/30/1996.

            Investigate that with your attorney.

            Good Luck,

            Bye
