I have sent my application on Feb 22 2010. Received the Notice of receipt, then 2 months later I received a yellow letter indicating items that I should bring to the interview. Now when I look at the status online it shows as RFE and that I was sent a mail on May 11 and up to today I have not received anything. Please note that no FP appointment letter was received either.
Could someone explain or what should I do now.

    I appreciate the advise

    Thanks,

Have you tried calling the 800 number for USCIS to speak to someone? What state are you applying from?

I have called the 1800 number today and the agent opened a service request to my field office Tampa, FLorida. He stated that when the status shows as RFE, often they are getting ready to send FP notice and in some case they are RFE's. He stated that it will take up to 45 days to receive a response on the service request.
I am not sure why it is taking this long for FP and in the initial review phase it states within the first month of submission one should expect one.
      Thanks,

I forgot to mention that I had an arrest record and was dimissed (disposed of) in 2003. when I mailed the package, The copy of the arrest report and diposition notice were not certified. The yellow notice regarding items I should bring to the interview included certified copies of both. I was able to get them and have them in my possession now, but they do not want me to mail them in according to the notice.

Could the RFE be request of the certified copies?
Or Not including certified copies slows down the process?
or When you have an arrest record, even if dismissed it takes longer to process your application?

        Thank You

The RFE was actually for the Finger Print notice. the next day or two after the agent opened the Service Request, I received a letter for Finger Print and stated NO RFE but FP appointment June 2. Letter was received on 5/27. The lesson learned is that being proactive pays at the end. The mail was sent and probably got lost and I never received it. This could have been considered as abandon, if I never reported to the FP appointment on June 2.

Now, I am waiting for the interview letter.

Anyone with experience from Tampa, Fl Field Office has a timeline. or Time between FP and Interview.

          Thanks,
