When the USCIS Officer asks how many times you have travelled outside the US-- do they mean in the past 5 years from time of submitting the application or 5 years from the day of the interview?

Technically an applicant is not supposed to leave the country while citizenship application is in process. I heard it might be ok to leave for less than 3 weeks but never really figured it out. It is generally not advised so the answer would be the same.

Five years from the date of filing the application.
Any / all travel after filing the application must be disclosed to the Officer (since it won't be on the application)
You may travel for short periods outside the US while your N400 is pending.
Opinion only. Cannot be construed as legal advice.
