  • basis for eligibility

Hello all - here's my situation. I've been married to a US citizen for 25 years, I've been a permanent resident for 14 years, I've obtained the green card based on marriage to a US citizen.
What option should I choose in the "Basis for eligibility" in form N-400? Does it make a difference at all which of the two viable options I pick?

    Thanks!

If you qualify under both the 3-year and 5-year rules, it's better to apply under the 5-year rule as it will be simpler and not require evidence of living in marital union with your spouse.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Thank you - that is what I was thinking. However I called the UCSIS and the person who answered told me that since I applied for green card based on marriage, then I should also do the same for citizenship. That is why I got confused.
