Nope i'm a cheap skate so didn't pay for anything extra. Informed delivery says they sent it on the 22nd and it arrived 24th by priority mail from AZ to OK. Not sure they could have done it much fast to be honest!Originally posted by dmike View Post
Did you expedite the return mail. Not the passport. I think its $18.

For SSN, did you send new SSN application, old SSN card, and passport. In my case I didn't ask for card, only for book. Is it safe to send my passport, and my SSN card by mail to them?.Originally posted by okccanary View Post
Awesome congrats!!!!!!
2- Did you register to vote, or about too?.

Ok for my SSN I sent a cover letter (see at the end of this post), my passport card and SS-5 form (https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5fs.pdf). I didn't send my old SS card, hopefully that won't be a problem. I basically got the Passport Card for this very reason and any other future thing I'm unaware of and where I will have to send evidence of citizenship as I didn't want to send my passport or NC. ( Apologies I know the last comment is a moot point for you as you already applied now for the passport but I added it for other people who may read this and contemplating whether or not to get the card as well) I am sure sending your passport will be fine! But, if you feel uncomfortable, then from my understanding there is no rush to update SS and you can wait until the offices open back up to the public and that way you are not sending anything and nothing could get lost. I just wanted to do everything straight away and get it all done with so I can finally forget about it all!! I sent my application last Tuesday/Wednesday and have not heard or received anything back as of yet but will keep you updated!
I voted to register on the very day I became a citizen and have already received my voter registration card! (took about a week from sending the application to receiving my card). I think it depends from state to state but photocopies were accepted for my registration. Mine was quick and painless process!
Here is the cover letter I used. I stole it from another forum where it has been used successfully multiple times. Hope this all helps! Feel free to ask any more questions.

Dear Sir or Madam:
I recently become a naturalized US Citizen and I am sending this application to change or update my social security record to reflect my new citizenship status. I am requesting a citizenship change, and I have included a completed and signed Form SS-5 and my passport card as proof of US citizenship.
Sincerely,

Thanks man, I wish that I did that. I didn't request coz I felt I won't use the card, but now makes sense. I think I will wait for now, would rather apply in person, or in the next few months or so. No NC yet. Will keep you posted. Thx again.Originally posted by okccanary View PostOk for my SSN I sent a cover letter (see at the end of this post), my passport card and SS-5 form (https://www.ssa.gov/forms/ss-5fs.pdf).
