Travel to India without surrendering Indian passport

Friends,

I'm looking for some guidance. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't seem to find it in any forum. I received my naturalization certificate on September 21, and I intend to travel to India as soon as I get my US passport and may not be able to surrender my Indian passport.

Can I travel on my US passport without giving up my Indian passport? Is it lawful even if I am able to travel? Is it possible that Indian immigration may cause a problem?
Is there a timeline to obtain a renunciation certificate after acquiring foreign nationality, or can I delay it for few months?

Ajay,
You will need a visa or OCU to enter India. From what I understand your India visa/OCI cannot be applied unless you get the surrender certificate.
