  • Need help: 183-day absence, interview in 2 weeks

    Hi Everyone,

I applied for citizenship in April 2020 and have an interview in 2 weeks. My last trip to my home country took 183 days and I returned in October 2017, ever since I had 2 more trips for 10 days each only.

My brother and father permanently moved to the US 2 months before my permanent move (they moved on August 2017). I kept my bank account open but have no lease or employment under my name. I had to stay in my home country to get finish my dissertation and get my PharmD degree to be able to apply for PhD in the US, and I got PhD admission soon after I got back to the US. I explained why I had to stay long term in my home country in a letter and uploaded it with supporting documents when submitting N400. Do you think I qualify for naturalization? Is there a way to increase my chance? Like providing more evidence or explanation.

    Thank you.

    Hi Member,
Are you filing N-400 by yourself or hired a Immigration Attorney? If you have Immigration Attorney who is helping to file the petition, I hope he will help you on this situation..
    All the best.
    Thanks.

I don't have an attorney, otherwise I'd have not asked my question here..

        Hi Member,
Understand.. But since this is case specific, it is better to consult with any immigration Attorney for better clarification.
        All the best.
        Thanks
