  • We are still waiting to the Interview since April 27,2020.Almost 2 years. Please help.

My wife and I we both submitted our N-400 application on April 27, 2020.
And our bio metrics appointment was on March 15, 2021.
Almost 1 year later we had bio metrics appointment.
And now we are still waiting for Interview Appointment. And my Case Status says estimate time appox. 5 months.
When I check Case Processing Times for Houston TX, system says Receipt date for a case inquiry : September 17, 2020.
So we should had get interview appointment.
And I submitted to USCIS Service Request form to egov.uscis.gov on Feb,9, 2022.
Until today I did not get any response for my Service Request about "Outside Normal Processing Time" .
    What can I do I don't know.
Is this the normal process or should I have to talk with any lawyer for help?
    Thank you for your help
    Best Regards

Just checked the USCIS website for Houston TX and it says 13-16 months. As its almost been two years I would think about contacting your State Senator and get them to look into it. Just tell them that its been almost two years since you submitted your application. USCIS own processing timeline on their website says 13-16 months for Houston and that you know people on this forum whose application process has taken 5-6 months from filing to receiving citizenship. (I applied 8/31/2021 and recieved it 2/14/2022). Hopefully by getting the Senator team to look into it, it might nudge it along!

Likely NARA / FRC. Meaning your file is in a limestone cave and because of 25 percent staffing due to Covid,

Looks like your case was sent to Federal Records Center as USCIS was closed during the pandemic. Such cases are taking a lot of time unfortunately while people who applied in 2021 have already become citizens.

While it is always preferable to work directly with USCIS on getting status updates to your case, you do have options.
In my opinion you should engage one of these options.

Do keep documentation to emails/letters that can be used for escalations

          - either to your state senator as a request
          - and/or pursue case escalation to the DHS Ombudsman. Link shared below. This contact should be the last resort as they will need the correspondence you had with USCIS and escalate internally.
