  • Reuse biometric

    Hello everyone,
Quick question for my friend -
Last week he performed a biometric for renewal his greencard, next month he will applied for citizenship, will he be summoned for biometric again or can the immigration reuse what he have already done?

No, they will probably use the same biometrics

I don't know the details of the biometric reuse policy the USCIS follows but I didn't have to go and get fingerprinted when I filed my N-400, even though my last interaction with the USCIS had been ~5 years earlier (I-485, for which I was fingerprinted).
The above is my personal opinion and not legal advice.

        Thanks
is there any policy that says the biometric is valid for several months for anything in the immigration?

Most likely to be re-used BUT biometrics fee is still applicable upon application.

Biometric data should be handled with the utmost care due to privacy and security concerns. If you mean reusing biometric data, it's crucial to follow best practices for data protection, encryption, and user consent. This could apply in situations where biometric data is used for multiple applications or services.

I went through something similar when I applied for my citizenship after renewing my greencard. They ended up reusing the biometrics I had done a few months prior, so I wasn’t called in again for new fingerprints or photos. I think if the biometrics are recent and still valid in their system, there’s a good chance they’ll use them to speed things up. Sometimes you still have to pay the fee though, which can be annoying even if you’re not being called in. I agree with the point about privacy, since using your personal data for different services always feels a bit uncertain online. That’s one reason I find it interesting how some platforms now use special technology just for humans, a bit like how world verifies real people instead of bots for sensitive stuff.
