  • N-652 after N-400 Interview

    Hi,

I filled my N400 application online in May 2021 (my I 751 was approved earlier in March). Has anybody ever received N-652 after the N-400 interview? I had my N-400 Interview in Dallas field office but as the the officer as they didn't have my file because it was sent back so they couldn't make any decision. They office handed me a Form N-652 saying "You passed the English test and the US history and government test". A decision can't be made yet about your application.

Has anyone ever seen this or know about the next steps and time line? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

AFAIK, everyone gets an N-652 after the interview, it's just that in the optimal case, the box "Your case has been recommended for approval" is checked. Based on what I heard from others here, a "decision cannot be made" mostly isn't a cause for concern (i.e. it mostly isn't a sign that they're thinking about denying your application but maybe they're still waiting for some background check) but it does mean that you'll have to wait a bit longer. How long? I've heard everything between a few weeks and a few months. AFAIK, unfortunately there isn't anything you can do to speed this up...
The above is my personal opinion and not legal advice.
