  • Replacement Certificate

I imagine that there are not many people on here who are currently applying for a replacement Naturalization certificate, but I have lost mine, and wanted share my experience for others.
i became Naturalized in 2006. However, with a lost certificate I cannot do anything. Not even renew my driver’s license.
    i filed my N-565 on 6/30/2022.
Today I went for my biometrics. I was a little nervous as it states ID required. The whole reason I am there was to get a certificate copy so I can GET an ID. Fortunately there was no problem.
Now I wait. I am reading a long thread on here from 2008 regarding the N-565, and will either piggy back off of that or tie the two threads somehow, just so people have more info to reference.

Finally, I hope to help. I have been through the entire process become a green-card holder to a citizen. Not just once, but I hand-held my wife through the process (she has since passed). So I hope to help with some of your questions. Thanks

Thank you for documenting your experience here! Hopefully, most of us won't have to go through this process... Sorry if this is a stupid question, but is a US passport not sufficient proof of US citizenship for the DMV to renew your license (in which case getting a replacement certificate isn't super urgent)?
The above is my personal opinion and not legal advice.

You most definitely can use your US passport as proof of US citizenship for ANY purpose. Once you have your passport, there is really no need for your naturalization certificate to prove citizenship.
