  • N-445 questionnaire

    Hello,

I am curious about what kind of checks or audits the USCIS runs on the N-445 questionnaire that is submitted at the oath ceremony. On the spot, the officer just collects the forms but I was wondering if they would randomely check the truth on the answers for some of the applicants.
Of course, the applicants must state the truth in their answers.

I'm pretty sure nobody knows the answer to this question here (and even if someone did, they telling you about this stuff would subject them to criminal prosecution). These procedures are related to combating immigration fraud, and the USCIS intentionally redacts them from internal policy manuals released to the public. Personally, I'd guess that the officer collecting the form would ask a few of the questions and be looking for some obviously evasive answers, and they'd, at the very least, definitely do the "easy" checks (border crossings, criminal stuff, etc.) more systematically than randomly. Again, this is 100% pure speculation on my part.
The above is my personal opinion and not legal advice.
