  • GC Extension letter

I applied for my 10 year green card and was sent a 2 year extension letter since I applied after sept 1 2021. It’s been over a year and I’ve been married over 3 years …

am I able to apply for my citizenship even though I have an extension letter?

will my husband have to come for an interview if I apply for my citizenship with pending extension letter

    im in the Miami area.

Yes, you can file N-400 while your I-751 is pending, if you otherwise qualify (e.g. for the 3-year rule, the earliest you can file is 90 days before you have been a permanent resident for 3 years; you also need to have been married for 3 years and your husband needs to have been a US citizen for 3 years on the date of filing). Your husband will need to come for your I-751 interview if there is one, but he will not have to come for your N-400 interview.

This is my personal opinion and is not to be construed as legal advice.

Word of warning if you only get a N-400 Interview please still bring your husband along!! There have been other people in the forum who went to a N-400 interview with the the I-751 still pending and they had to reschedule the N-400 interview as their partner was still needed!! Almost as if the officer was doing both the I-751 and N-400 at the same time!

If your I-751 is completed before the N-400 interview then your partner will not be needed!!

Just a word of warning there have been multiple people here who had their N-400 interview rescheduled because their partner was not there when they still had the I-751 still pending!! Almost as if the Officer is doing both at the same time.

If the I-751 is fully completed before then I completely agree with you that Partner is not needed for the N-400 Interview.
