  • Request for Evidence Q

Ten days after my N-400 application was accepted, my case status changed to "request of evidence." After having read some of the posts here, I assumed it referred to my biometrics appointment. However, after my appointment, the case status didn't change. I called the USCIS hotline and asked them about it. They said it had nothing to do with the biometrics appointment, but they wouldn't tell me what it was about. They also said that, since I had not received the letter in print, they would send it again. That was a week ago. (They told me to call back if I didn't receive the letter within 15 days.)

I'm a bit nervous here. Does anyone know what the evidence they are requesting might be? I've read many posts on this message board, and I don't remember anyone mentioning a request of further evidence right after submitting the application. (Some people have mentioned tax returns, but only after the interview.)

Any ideas, even if they're just speculation, will be highly appreciated.

    Hey
I had the same case. I got request for tax transcript even before my biometrics notice.. it came on yellow paper saying i need to bring this transcript for the past 3 years with me for my interview. That was in my case but i guess could be different...
    Good luck

Thanks, Bashee. Was this the timeline for you? 1) acceptance of N-400 request, 2) request for tax transcript, 3) biometrics appointment letter, 4) interview appointment letter?

I had my biometrics appointment a week ago, but I haven't received an interview appointment letter. I just want to make sure that this "request for evidence" isn't holding it up.

I sent my N-400 back in September got the Notice in October Waited for my fingerprints till December and now i have test February so i dont really know if it has anything to do with this transcript. When i started reading other peoples timelines i was surprised it was so quick for them...
Some people say that this status "request for evidence" its just something they put and dont change until your interview date and they never got any notice so i wouldnt be worrying if i were you.

You stay in the "Request for Evidence" status until your case is transferred to your local office for the interview scheduling. So no worry, you should be fine. My status also did not change after the fingerprinting was done up to the point when my case was transferred and then the status got updated as "Testing and Interviewing." This is the normal procedure.
