  • Wife applying for citizenship

My wife wants to apply for citizenship. I have not decided about myself yet.

She is not working. Can she apply? Will there be any questions in the interview about how can she support herself etc??

    Thanks.

Employment is not a prerequisite to apply, so your wife can apply assuming she meets all the other criteria like continuous residence (no trips lasting longer than 6 months) and physical presence (at least 30 months physically in the US within the last five years). On the N400 form it will be indicated that she is married to you and also your status (permanent resident) will appear there. So if the officer asks about financial support it is obvious. Just to be safe, she can take a letter from your employer (showing your employment status) with her to the interview so that she can show to the officer if the issue comes up.

Thanks nwctzn. I just wonder about the following questions in the interview ...
-Why is your husband not applying?
-What if your husband leaves the country, Will you also leave with him? and if I say in that case I will also leave then will I get the citizenship?
