  • speeding ticket while N-400

    i am apply for N-400 soon and in 2011 i had a Speeding ticket of $85 , i was doing 45 in a 30 speed limit i did not know, so in part 10 ( D) Question 15,16,17,18 will i say yes or no i am a bit confused, i was not arrested i was only give a ticket

    can some guide me how to fill the 4 q

    You say 'Yes' to that question since you were cited and issued a ticket. However, since the ticket was less than $500, you do not need to send in anything regarding that citation with your N-400. However, they will most likely request that you bring all documentation regarding that ticket (including a confirmation that you paid it) with you to the interview.

      Though it may not have an impact on the decision of your application, answer 'Yes" to the question. Even if it is a minor crime, USCIS may reject your application if you do try to hide the incident. Unless a traffic incident was alcohol or drug related, you don't have to submit documentation for traffic fines and incidents that did not involve an actual arrest if the only penalty was a fine less than $500 and/or points on your driver’s license.
