Can't make interview date

So my worst nightmare has come true. I have a huge project due at work on my interview day and I can't take that day off (9/11).

What are the consequences of this? I have re-scheduled my finger print work twice due to work and now it seems I will have to reschedule my interview.

I called the USCIS number and they mentioned my application can be denied for missing my appointment, I am sick to my stomach. What are the odds of this?

My interview is at the offices in Holtsville, NY.

If you have a good reason, by all means reschedule. It will delay your application, but I highly doubt you will be denied. If you don't show up, that's a different story. Even then, though, they will likely give you a chance.
