This is for a friend of mine.
My friend is currently on J1 doing first year residency. His J1 expires on 22nd of June 2016. He will be signing a contract with start date of 2nd July 2016 for second year residency.
I am thinking that the contract should start at 23rd June 2016 instead of 2nd July 2016 to maintain status. I am not sure if he gets VISA from 2nd July 2016 and he stays in US between 22nd June 2016 and 2nd July 2016. Is that out of status or something? Could someone throw some light on this?
