  • J1 waiver

    Hello,
Can any one kindly respond to my query. I am on J1 visa and two year home country rule applies to me. A no objection certificate from home country will work for getting a waiver. If i get the no objection certificate now from my home country and apply for the waiver (to the waiver division in USA) after two years, will that no objection certificate (issued by my home country) still be valid for the waiver. Look forward to hear from some one.
    Thanks..

I dont see why not..............I hope you do understan dthat while youre waiting for those two years before you apply for the waiver, you cannot change to another non-immigrant or immigrant status

How to change J-1 research category to student??

Hi, I am Indian national and have got J-1 visa (a research scholar, category)which require me for 2 years residency in India.
I am on this visa for only one year.

      (1) I want to know whether I can study with this visa for a master level program in the university? I mean to change the Ds 2019 sponsor?

      (2) Or can it be change from a research category into a student category of (J-1) the same status?

      (3) If not then what should I suppose to do? which will enable me to to study for 3 to 4 years further?
I will be very glad to know if there are any one who want to help me or suggest me in this situation.

      Thanks

        1. No
        2. No
        3. Nothing can be done..........you just have to satisfy the two year residency or apply for and obtain a waiver
