  • overstay in usa on j1 viza. and left usa, want to apply again now?

I entered USA on j1 visa with my sister. and after that i extend once on tourist. after that i stay for like 8 months and left usa.
My sister is in the States from then. Married but havent went to the interview.(having problems with her husbant) so out of status.
So now After 3 years since i left USA I want to apply again for J1 visa.
    My questions are:
    1. Can i hide for my sister in the states when i apply?
2.Can i tell the ambassy that did not overstay in USA?

Something about this please HELP me friends!!!
Need some answers to my problems
    Please give some ideas.
Thanks a lot in advance to everyone.

No one can stop you from doing that but look at the consequences that have been discussed here earlier today.

Answer everything truthfully on the DS156 and the questions asked by the VO. If the VO grants you a visa, you are fine.

Overstay is not that good. If you apply for another J1 (provided you have a valid job on J1) there should not be a problem, unless the visa officer checks about your overstay. If no questions are asked, dont say anything and just focus on your latest J1. If asked, you can cite various reasons for your overstay and just hope and pray that your visa will be granted. All the best!

Except for the fact that DS156 clearly asks if you have violated any terms of a visa and has to be indicated on Q38. There is no way to avoid it.

                i was denied

No visa for me ,said the VO .
i`ve been in the states 22 months and only 2 of them overstay but she did not ask for overstay,
She said why did you stay in the states? why did you extend?
                Sorry no visa for you.
i think to write a letter to the general consul !
I have very very strong ties to my home country and i am a regular medical student!
I do not understand VO`s , strange people!

VOs are not strange people. They follow the law. You overstayed which indicates you might become an overstayer in the future as well. They go by history of violations and you did break the rules. Writing to someone may not help either.

Yes, An overstay will be a problem for any kind of non-immigrant visa.
