J2 Dependent visa

I am J1 visa holder. My visa is valid for next 3 years. My spouse is going for J2 dependent visa next week. Can I accompany him in front of consular officer during his visa as my spouse isn't feeling comfortable going alone? Some of my friends told me that I can go with him, but I just wanted to confirm it again through this forum.

You CANNOT, unless you too have an interview appointment set-up in the same application at the same time slot.
