Waiver - Second J1 visa - Need inputs

Dear All,

I am quite new to this forum.
Thanks in advance to someone who could help me with their suggestions...

Here's my situation:

May '07 --- Came to US - J1(TRAINEE) - in a company at NJ.
March '08 --- Got attestations at NY consulate towards the NORI certificates
March '08 --- Returned back to India to finish studies
April '08 --- Got the case number online, but didn't send documents to DoS
Sep '08 --- Got NORI certificates from all 3 offices from India
Dec '08 --- Came to US in 2nd J1(INTERN) in the same company at TX
Jan '08 --- Company agrees to file a H1b in April '09

Here're my queries:

- Given the situation, is it practicable to get the waiver for the first J1, before April '09?
- Can I send my passport with NORI certificates to NY consulate from Texas?
- Should I generate a new case number mentioning about the second J1 and send the recent documents also to Dept of State? or Can I use the same case number that I generated in March '08?
- Most importantly, Do I need a waiver again for the second J1 visa?

Your thoughts/suggestions would be of immense help to me & also for future J1- NORI applicants through this forum!

J-1 waiver

Hello Raj,

I am in the process of applying for a waiver on my J-1 visa and I would really appreciate your help in that.
I have got the 3 applications signed from the Indian Consulate here at Houston. The next step is to obtain the certificates from the 3 authorities in India. I have a few questions regarding the same:
1. How long does it normally take to obtain the clearances?
2. Is there an order in which I should proceed? Should I go to delhi first or to state govt or to passport office?
3. Do you have a copy of the clearances you obtained from India?
It would be great if you could give me your cell number/e-mail id. I really need to get this waiver and hence i need help.

Its bit tricky

Hi Sahil,
Even i am in the same process.
The documents from three office has to be cleared.
Well i already got clearences from 2 offices , delhi(scholarship) and home department state (bangalore), awaiting for the clearence from the passport office.
Its better you have some people to follow up with them , other wise they will take their own sweet time.
Send all the documents to all the three offices and then ask someone in india to follow up with your documents.
if someone is there to follow up and to push the process it wouldn"t take much long.

I saw that you got clearance from home dept of karnataka. did police came for inspection at your home? I heard like that there is a police verification before home dept sign NORI, kindly reply to me
