Hi,
I have a question concerning the 2-year bar restriction. I was a J1 research scholar from April 2007 to June 2008 so I am subject to 24-month bar. I have a new job offer and they want me to start in Jan 2010. However, I cannot return to the U.S. as a J-1 research scholar categories for the 24-month period. Is it possible to first start working as a J1 short term visitor or J1 specialist visa, and then change to H1-B later to avoid this 2 years waiting time?
