Hi,
I am French and before the beginning of the COVID pandemic, I applied for a J1 visa because I was hired by a US university as a postdoctoral researcher.
My J1 visa (category research scholar) was refused by the us embassy under the provision 221(g) because of an error on my DS-2019. The hosting university sent me another DS-2019 with corrected information and new contract dates. Meanwhile, I had also to renew my passport because of its expiration date that does not cover the period of my contract, so I have a new passport number.
I re-applied for a DS-160 with the new informations and now the next step is the interview. The first date available is September 4th but the beginning date of my contract, mentioned on the DS-2019, is august 1st. Do I have to request an « urgency » appointment ? Or do you think that I need to wait un ton the situation gets better in the US?
