Hi Friends
I am presently working on J1 visa as a postdoctoral researcher here in USA, which was for 3 years and now I am half way through (1 year 6 months remaining). I have two-year residence requirement set for me. I think my present employer can extend it for 2 more years but I am interested to keep my doors open to USA for longer. I can request my employer to convert it to H1B visa. Is a waiver required beforehand from Govt of India or it can be taken after moving to H1B?
If my present employer fails to provide an H1B but extends my J1 for 2 more years (total 5 years), what are my options? Any views about it moving to some other place such as Canada?
Please suggest!
