J2 to J1 transfer

I am on J2 visa for last 5 years and was on F1 visa for 2 years before that. My wife will complete her J1 training in June 2012. I am starting my fellowship traning in July 2012. My program does not sponsor H1B visa so I have to get my own J1 visa.

Is it possible to transfer from J2 to J1? Any specific restriction?

do not do this

if you have the J1 visa and now you are going to start your training in the june so there is no need to convert this visa, if you do this then may be authorities will think you are tripping here.

I am currently on J2 (not on J1) which will not be vaild after June 2012. Sorry, if I was not clear earlier.
