will rejection of B visa affect a J visa for short volunteer visit
So last month I made a silly attempt at trying to get a B tourist visa to goto the US for a 1 week vacation. I had an *informal* invite from a YMCA there to come visit.
The visa was politely but flatly rejected by the officer, who didn't even see my documents. (I'm single/21 but do have a well paying engineering job). Was rejected with 214(g)
I've been volunteering for the YMCA for many many years, and this November there is a childrens program in the US where I might be sent as a volunteer for about a week. The whole thing will be funded by the YMCA here.
(1) Will I have greater chance of rejection now because I tried to apply the first time? (Given my situation) Or is this just subjective and I should hope for the best?
(2) Will travel history help? At the moment I've never left the country before, but I have a chance to vacation this month in Europe. Would this help with my J visa in November?
