Advice & guidance needed

Dear friends,

The Scene :-- My girlfriend ( US citizen ) & I (Indian) met eachother online 2 years back and since then, have been keeping in constant touch with each other through e-mails, Skype, and regular mail (post& courier)..Now we have decided to get engaged and she plan to come down to India for the engagement. Both of us have had a failed marriage in the past.


My questions are as follows :-

1) Single Status Certificate :--Since there is NO government department in India, which issues a single status certificate, Will an affidavit on a Non-Judicial stamp paper do ?

2) Divorce papers :- Here in India, The court does not give us the Original divorce papers, what I was given was a "Photostat certified copy of Judgement", which has the attestation of the Superintendent of the sessions court and the seal of the judge.

Will this do ? or do i need any other document to be submitted?

Neither of you is required to submit any "Single Status Certificate" along with your fiancé's petition on your behalf for the K-1 Fiancée Visa.

However, both of you would need to enclose a copy of your divorce papers when filing for the above visa, since you've been married b4. As long as the photostat copies of your divorce decree/paperwork bears original stamp(s) or seal(s) of the court & or judge that'll be presented during your personal one-on-one interview with a consular officer at your local US Consulate at a later date, that should suffice.

Ty deathrow .. Clarification please

Thank you deathrow2020, With reference to your reply, I needed a Clarification, :- When you say, "as long as photostat copies of the divorce "bears" the Original stamp / seal of the judge. So, does this mean that I would need Multiple copies of the judge ment-- Most Importantly Bearing the original seal ?

Need help on H1B Extension

My Visa is getting expired in the month of July. I haven't filled extension and my working location got changed from Issaquah to REDMOND and my new LCA is in process. I just want to know whether it is recommended to go and visit my home land.
