Hello, i am a U.S. citizen who is living in Mexico, I have lived here all my life, have never really lived in the U.S. I want to go to New York City with my Mexican boyfriend. We want to live there. We will get married, and i will sponsor him. I have never worked in the U.S. and have never filed a tax return. I am hoping to find work there. He is illegally working there now. Do you think the process will take longer than usual because I have not filed income tax returns?

    Thanks.

    Gogo,

    You will need a co-sponsor.

U.S. citizen or Green Card holder can sponsor.

If your guy did not enter the U.S. with a valid visa (even if expired now), you will have some immigration difficulty in getting him status here.

Good, if he is here on a visitor visa (B2), even if his allowable stay has expired, his status can be converted to Green Card after marrying you. If you obtain employment and have about 6 months of steady pay that will annualize to $20,000 or more, you may be able to accomplish this without a co-sponsor.
