  • My Fiancé is a domestic worker in Singapore.

    Hello,
I met my fiancé in a ******** page that I admin for a rare medical problem. We chatted about our condition which is very scary for anyone much less a simple filipina from Santo Niño, Cagayan Valley. During the days we chatted we became friends and kept in touch more and more. As the days passed we fell in love and now after six months we have decided that we wish to be man and wife.
The problem is that she works as domestic worker in Singapore and only gets Sunday's off. I know from reading the posts here that she can be interviewed in SG for her visa but can the interview be scheduled during her day off. She only can leave her employers house from 8 am to 5 pm. The other problem is that her employers are holding her passport while she is in their employ. She has a valid work permit and medical cert. While her employers are very nice compared to the others of her friends she is convinced that when they find out about her wish to get married that they will send her back to PI. If she gets sent back to PI can she get a tourist visa to return to SG for her interview? I'm more than willing to get her an apartment for a month or two while she waits for it.
I am going to SG to meet her next month and take all of the photos we can over the span of her two days off while I'm there. Will one trip and six months of messenger texts (50,000 plus) and Skype call records be enough? I will return to be there for the interview. This whole process is so daunting that you really have to be sure that this is the girl you really want to marry. Thank you very much for any advice you can help us with. God bless, Jon and Maria.

When you do the fiancee visa paperwork, show her eventual processing country as Philippines. When the paperwork passes through the petition approval stage, she will have to return to the Philippines to prepare for her medical exam and interview, then come to the U.S. The conditions you describe for her being interviewed in Singapore and meeting the other pre-interview requirements there just won't work easily for her. Has she mentioned yet the possible buying out of her contract for a premature job termination? This can sometimes become very expensive.

      More questions.

Hi Ray, I thank you for your response. I really think that it would be easier to go through the consulate in SG because of posts I've read on other sites. The amount of people being processed there is far fewer than the Manila embassy. My fiancé can terminate her contract whenever she wants but wishes to work until the visa comes through. I am not worried too much about her getting time off for her interview. She could get her medical and shots if needed before she goes. The processing time through the Singapore US consulate, once approved, averages from a week to three weeks. Even if she has to leave and return on a tourist visa to SG she has a place to stay while she waits with a friend who has her own home there. It seems that the longest wait is the initial process when I file the first form to apply.

I have a question about getting police clearances from the Philippines and Singapore. Who do we contact to get one? She also needs a new copy of her birth certificate. I saw a site that says she can get one from NSO birth certificate site delivered world wide.
      Thank you, Jon.

The Philippines NBI clearance can be ordered through the Philippines Embassy in Singapore.
The Singapore police clearance info is at:
