May 13,2007 my daughter and i arrived here in the U.S by k-3 and k-4 visa. Now,after our arrival an approval notice of I-130 arrived which means we can apply for AOS.Last February our Immigration lawyer sent us an e-mail telling us that we can apply for AOS and the instructions and we recieve a letter from NVC a form to which we are required to answer back because it has been a year since we have no contact to them so our application has been put to termination process.Anyway after we mail them back the letter they have replied and told us that our application have been removed and been entered to normal processing so i ask our immigration lawyer to send us again the proceedure on how to apply for AOS and they have sent us a letter from NVC a fee of $470 total for application process and security surcharge and fee bill. The confusion is why do we need to pay that non-refundable fee when we are here already in the U.S. should we just apply AOS at USCIS?who would want to go back again from the scratch and spend thousand of money just to go home to their home country for the interview that will only take an hour? That was ?@#$&*"
.
