  • Should I be Concerned or am I just paranoid?

    Hello All,

My (K-1) I-129F package was sent July 5th and received on July 7th by the Laguna, Ca "Other than USPS Carrier" address. It was signed for the morning of the 7th...

My question is...everyone is showing their dates of when their packages were received and touched...something I can only track when I receive some kind of confirmation/process number. Well I have yet to receive it. At what point should I become worried and is there a phone number I can call to prompt them or get that number in advance?

    Thanks for any help!

    Elmer

Just wanted to tell you that you're not the only one. On another website there are 46 people who have posted timelines of petitions sent in July and not one has received the receipt and case number. That's at both California and Vermont. It's really unusual and that's definitely a change from how it normally progresses.
    Backing up to petitions sent
    June 30 - 5 mailed, 2 notices
    June 28 - 1 mailed, 1 notice
    June 27 - 4 mailed, 2 notices
    June 26 - 4 mailed, 3 notices

It looks like a July 1 thing where the notices just stopped. And it's very odd that it's both service centers.

      Thanks Nichole!

Is there a phone number I should be calling to prompt them or get my number?

It's not worth calling because they aren't doing them now. If you were the only one left out, then I would call.

I knew that one day conoffs would get the CIS with the program, which is what I see happening with the ridiculous RFE's, longer waits and increasing return petition revocations. It must be corrupting to see what all conoffs get away with (in return petitions). CIS was the only "people's agency" in the federal government, something not even the US federal courts merit to be called.

Elmer, The same thing happened to me for the Vermont service center. You have to wait 30 days, and then you can call 800-375-5283 and following the prompts for not receiving reciepts. They will ask you for your address and some more information, and then they will give you the case number.

Thank You! Yeah, I just noticed that they haven't cashed my check yet either... They MUST be backed up not to take my money.

May I just say that getting a visa is not all doom and gloom as this frequent poster seems to paint in a way that is rambling and hard to understand. I have talked with people on the phone at the USCIS, National Visa Center, Dept. of State, Border Control, and London Embassy. They have all been quite nice, not scary people out to get you. The Dept of State, NVC, and Border Control were awesome. A++++ The others gave standard robotic answers, but they probably don't even have access to much information and are just there to answer the phone and say wait your turn. They don't go dig up your file and see where it is and who's working on it. So calling them doesn't get you much, but if it makes you feel better, then call.

If you get approved and want to know if your info is at the Embassy or if an interview has been scheduled, call the Dept of State because they have the same info put in the foreign embassy database and will tell you. NVC will tell you if they have received your (K1) file from USCIS and the date they sent it to the Embassy and your new case number they assign. They are open til late night and that's the best time to call.

This is not a difficult process, except for the waiting, if you are honest, arrest-free, drug-free, people with no issues like overstays in the US, etc. If you have issues, then it could take longer. If you are from a country with high visa fraud, they will scrutinize you more. They tend to be harder on middle eastern nations too, with extra security checks which don't mean denial, but mean waiting longer. Don't be frightened by people with some kind of axe to grind with the US government. Have hope.

Thanks.. Thats encouraging to hear. I have no issues that you mentioned, I am career military with over 22 years in and hold a Top Secret Clearance. I have never been arrested nor have I had a ticket speeding or otherwise in 15+ years. My fiancee has a better record than I have and has never left her country.

I tried to do EVERYTHING mentioned on THIS site to make this as error free as possible. I know it will eventually pan itself out and get approved but I want to be proactive and not reactive...We have already gotten her completing some things over there ahead of receiving her package so that we can call the embassy and schedule an appointment ASAP.

Having that tracking number would help me understand whats happening and when her and I should start pressing the consulate in her country to expedite.

Again, Thank you ALL for helping me better understand this process.

Unfortunately the tracking number doesn't give you much information. You will log in and it will say: Case Status Pending, for months and months. Then finally one day it's approved. So there's no info between "we have your case" and "you're approved." It will drive you crazy not knowing what's going on. And if you call to ask, they say you're case is pending and nothing more. Sometimes the date is updated, which some people call a touch, but those just get your hopes up and they don't mean that much and you could still go more months with no approval. Some people get several touches and some never do, but still get approvals.

Just checked the timelines and there's now 53 reporting July petitions at both Service Centers, but no NOA1s issued. Very strange. They are estimating those sent to CSC 1st of July to be approved Dec 5-14. Those sent to VSC are estimated to be approved Oct 20-27. This is nothing official and only based on timeline input and historical times with various algorithms worked out to give an estimate. The dates change as new data is added. But for now, that's where you stand. The workload ebbs and flows. Mine took 50 days at VSC. People filing a month before me were often less than 30. People getting approved right now sent in 90-100 days ago. CSC is a couple of months longer.

Wow! Patience is the key. I have been waiting since Sept. 2007 for I-130 approval. July 2008 still waiting. So, I think that you need to calm down and wait. Trying to pressure uscis is futile. You have been waiting 20 days. Wow, just wait. If you read some of these cases you will see that you HAVE to wait just like everyone else. The cases may be different but you cannot just jump ahead of everyone else. I am totally frustrated but guess what all I can do is wait and continue to check. And if the case is outside of the normal processing time, then you can take action.

Three kinds of people in this world:

                        1. People that make things happen
                        2. People that watch things happen
                        3. And people that dont know whats happening

Seems you aren't the first, so yeah...thanks for your help. If wanting to know and understand whats going on with my petition is wrong, so be it...I will be wrong.

Well he may be right, but all I am looking to do is stay on top of this and not allow mistakes (on my side or theirs) to slow it up.... Not a bunch of sarcastic WOW's. The sooner I can resolve a potential issue and can act on it, the sooner I can move on to the goal EVERYONE on this forum has, getting their spouse approved and here in the States.

I am not looking for special handouts, just information to help me be as proficient as possible. And THANKS, I wish you good luck as well.
