  • Ridiculous gender error on K-1 visa stamp in passport

Hello, my fiance received her K-1 visa from the US embassy in Ankara 2 weeks ago, and we just realized that her gender has been labeled as "Male" on the visa stamp in the passport, although she is clearly a female. I contacted the embassy and they said that she can come back at any time to correct the error, but this is going to set me back some serious $$$$ (missed flight to the US and another trip to Turkey!!!).

Can she just show up at the US point of entry and explain the error? This is ridiculous!

Why won't you do what the consulate told you to do...?

No, you can not just show up at the port of entry with incorrect information in the visa.

Why do you have to make another trip to Turkey? Is it not possible for her to show up on her own to the US embassy?

Can you please tell me what happened in regards to getting the Gender changed on the Visa that was issued?
