  • K1 processing times...

    Hi,

I have been reading this forum and it has been so very helpful.
I applied for my fiance's K1 visa and received my 1-797-C notice of action that my application was receieved (VERMONT SC) on December 5th.
On the online processing timelines it says March 7th 2008. Does that mean they are deciding on applications sent in March? How often do they update this information? I know I should be patient, but I am so anxious.

I know every case is different, but does anyone have experience with a us citizen applying K1 from vermont - Delhi India? Any stories would be great!

    Thanks so much!

The dates posted are the oldest cases they are still working on. They update maybe once a month. Vermont is currently approving mid August applications. California is into Sept now. Those are average, applications with no unusual circumstances I believe. Some would be faster and some slower. Incomplete submissions would slow one down.

      Hey,
Just few days back I've called the USCIS national customer service # to inquire about the process time for Vermont office. The lady said the on line process time are the most current ones. So I don't know where Nichol got the mid August from. Please let me know any info. you might have.

      Thanks,

The dates come from a group I belong to where hundreds of people keep timelines so you can see who was approved recently and when they submitted their applications. They correlate an average based on all the timelines. So it is real people saying I got my I-129F petition approved today. So it's just a way of knowing that people with a receipt day of xx-xx-xx got approved on yy-yy-yy. Like looking at the last Vermont filers who updated their timelines as petition approved, they have NOA receipts of
        8/12, 8/14, 6/5, 8/11
        8/14, 9/12, 5/9, 8/9,
        6/11 had request for evidence
        7/31 had request for evidence
        8/4 had request for evidence
        7/28, 8/1

It's just a way to know that some people with dates in August are getting approvals. And some are slower for whatever reason, like getting a request for evidence.

As far as the USCIS date of March 7. That happens to be the time when we applied for K1 at Vermont so I keep in personal touch still with alot of those people. Most of us got petition approvals in May, got visas in the summer, and are now married, with work permits already approved and soon to have green cards in hand if not already received. There were around 100 people filing in March who reported, so it's just a tiny fraction of all the applications, but a sampling of 100 is a good sample. I'm sure there is somebody from March not yet approved by Vermont, but they are scarce.

So be encouraged that those dates are the worst case scenario.
