That's weird. Did you tell them that the letter states that it will be forwarded within a week? If yes, what was their reply? As far as I know, the only processing that NVC does for K-1/K-3 is to enter the visa application into the system and then forward it to the appropriate post!

Normally the file is there about 3 days at the most. But I have know several people who were held up at NVC for "additional processing". For some reason they are doing extra security checks on those and it could be held up there for weeks. There's not really anything you can do to speed it up. But your fiance could be gathering all the papers needed for the Embassy ahead of time instead of waiting for "instructions" then starting. And if you haven't done the I-134 with supporting tax return, W2, letter from employer, pay stubs, etc then you can be doing that and mailing it over.

It happens. I know of alot of people whose AP for security checks at the NVC lasted from 3 weeks to 3 months. Most were in the 6-7 week range. You can call the Dept of State customer service and check on the status instead of calling the NVC.

There are alot of consulates all over the world and some are much busier than others, so it's impossible to say without knowing which one you are talking about. Juarez, Mexico comes to mind as really fast. The Canadian ones seem to take longer. You can Google "US Embassy Juarez" (use yours) and find the website of your country's US Embassy with lots of information to help you with the next steps.

                        Nvc i-129f held up

Hey! bro it's should only be held up for a few days 1-4 days the most that why the K1 visa is faster than the K3. All they do is enter ur I-129F petition in their system and gave you a NVC case number and hit you with a $70 fee for the affidavit of support I-134 then they send it to Georgetown Guyana U.S.A Embassy the phone # is 011-592-225-4900 that's when the embassy will send ur fiance packet# 3. I listen to 93.5 fm around 12:00pm they have immigration lawyers answering all your immgration questions for free so that's why I know this info. They may also have to run a security clearance cheek with the NCIP or BIAS.visit the department of state web site and click under visas. Best of luck.
