Timeframe for USCIS Lockbox I-485 for K-1

If anyone out there can share their experiences that would be great.

I am curious as too how long it takes for the USCIS to cash your check when filing the I-485 for a K-1 (now married) through the USCIS Lockbox PO Box address in Chicago.

The package was delivered 7 days ago, now I know that doesn't seem like a long time, but I have never known this government to not cash checks FIRST thing. So I am concerned that since it hasn't happened yet, maybe my file is lost somewhere.

Is there anyway to contact somebody?? I am hoping that maybe the PO Box only gets visited every once in a while and maybe that is the case.

I just don't want my new wife to be deported!! And I would like to get the ball rolling on here I-131 and I-765 which were filed at the same time.

Actually they don't cash the check first. Contractors open the mail and check for basic things and prepare files. I've heard of people with the same concerns. You should get your receipt shortly. When you get it, the date on the receipt will probably be earlier than the date the money clears your account. I think mine took 10 days. If nothing has happened by 15 days, then call. The phone number is the same that came on your notices for K1. And they aren't too helpful on the help line.

I had to submit mine twice, and both times I got the receipt about 12-14 days after I sent my package. I don't remember the exact dates.

Cash a check? Very surprised at this as for our AOS (K3) we had to get either a money order or Bank Check. In either case, your money has flown the coop/account.

Interesting question then for us anyway - How do you track a Bank Check being "cashed"?
